The Romans has been tasked with delivering an 'always-on' press office programme and creative campaigns to highlight how the circular economy can thrive on Gumtree.
The agency will also work with Gumtree's marketing and communications team on the brand's positioning to encourage a younger and climate-conscious audience to consider how they can use the classified ads and community platform.
Over the past 20 years, Gumtree has grown from an expat community website to a platform used by 14 million people every month to buy and sell items in their local area.
“We absolutely loved the strategic and creative thinking in The Romans’ pitch,” Gumtree head of PR and communications Laura Nettley said.
“They clearly understand our audience and what we are trying to achieve on the platform, and for that reason, we can’t wait to create great work with them in what is set to be a pivotal year for our business.”
The Romans founder and chief creative officer Joe Mackay-Sinclair said: “New year, new client, and such perfect timing – after all, who didn’t resolve to buy fewer new things this year? Shopping more sustainably and consuming more consciously has never been more important, and so we are thrilled that Gumtree has chosen The Romans to help shape this conversation in UK media.”
