Coffee Break with the American Cleaning Institute’s Melissa Hockstad

The president and CEO of the ACI shares how the organization shifted gears during the pandemic and brought competitors together.

From hand sanitizer shortages to stopping the public ingesting bleach to “cure” COVID-19, the cleaning products industry has experienced tremendous change in the last year.

In this week’s Coffee Break, American Cleaning Institute president and CEO Melissa Hockstad discusses the shifts the organization has seen over the course of the pandemic, as well as its role in unified public messaging.

The ACI oversees companies across the cleaning products industry, and Hockstad explained how the organization brings competitors together to focus on key issues that affect the industry as a whole.

“Over the last 12 months, there have been a lot of moving parts, but [we’ve focused] on the regulatory and legislative side, and what our members need to be working on together, whether it’s with agencies or the new administration,” she added. ”And then, the messaging. That’s one area where there has really been a unified voice.”

Coffee Break is a weekly 15-minute intermission in your working day to discover more about PR pros who occupy interesting roles across the industry, live each Wednesday morning by 11 a.m. ET.
