Dan Lochmann (pictured above), head of global communications and global marketing communications director for Mitsubishi, will depart the company this week after five years to take on the role of managing director, group communications at financial services group Orix.
Based in Tokyo, Lochmann said it was time to tackle a new challenge in a different industry after building a modern corporate and marketing communications organisation at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).
"[Orix] is a solid yet forward looking company and I am excited to be part of driving their global growth journey going forward," he said. "Its diversified business in financial services makes it unique and I am looking forward to bringing that story to more people around the world. It is the next chapter of my ongoing life mission to help Japanese companies better communicate their unique strengths to stakeholders globally."
In his new role—which will take into effect on February 1—he will report to the senior managing executive officer (the number two in the company) and will be responsible for creating a refreshed brand and communications strategy to help drive its global business forward.
He added: "I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to help strengthen and modernise such an iconic and historic brand as MHI and feel proud of the work we have done together in positioning, digital, marketing and social so that the company can now better express its value in areas like a carbon neutral future, improving people's quality of life and security and exploration."
Prior to MHI, Lochmann worked at Edelman and Burson-Marstellar.
