Sodexo makes two senior UK comms hires

Sodexo, the FTSE 250-listed foodservice and facilities management company, has made two senior appointments in its UK external and internal comms functions.

Sodexo has named Melanie Diamond (pictured) PR and campaigns director, leading an eight-strong team responsible for developing and executing corporate comms strategies, campaigns, materials, stakeholder engagement and external channels for the UK and Ireland.

Diamond, who reports to brand and communications director Melanie Duffett, previously held a series of contract positions, including head of media relations at Virgin and head of PR at Virgin Trains. Her agency experience includes stints at Clarion, Spider PR and TVC.

Diamond told PRWeek: "In the year ahead, my primary focus will be on launching and amplifying our Social Impact Pledge, which will focus on four key impact pathways: our people; our planet; our places; and our partners."

The role was previously filled on an interim basis.

Meanwhile, Rayna Miller, formerly head of employee engagement and social responsibility at smart meter infrastructure firm Smart DCC, joins Sodexo next week as employee and change communications director. Her previous roles include senior internal comms manager at Royal Mail, head of internal comms at cash processing business Vaultex, and director at Veracity Communications.

Miller replaces Max Puller, who left at the end of 2020 to join Tesco Bank as head of colleague communications and engagement.

Sodexo is a global business that employs more than 30,000 people in the UK and Ireland, where it operates across over 1,700 locations.

Earlier this month the company reported a 27.1 per cent fall in revenue for the first quarter of its financial year, although it said the performance was better than expected, given the impact of COVID-19, and was ahead of the previous quarter.
