Plank Center names Bridget Coffing chair

Former Harley-Davidson comms leader Joanne Bischmann was named vice chair.

TUSCALOOSA, AL: The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations has named Bridget Coffing as chair of its board of advisers and Joanne Bischmann as vice chair.

Coffing, former SVP of worldwide corporate relations at McDonald’s, has replaced Keith Burton, who served on the center’s board for a dozen years. Coffing has been a member of Plank’s board of advisers since 2015.

Coffing has been consulting since she left McDonald’s in 2015. She was named to PRWeek’s Power List numerous times.  

Until her retirement in 2019, Bischmann was chief communications officer and VP at Harley-Davidson. She was inducted into PRWeek’s Hall of Fame in 2018. Bischmann joined the Plank board in 2016.

Kenn Gaither and Scott Vazin have also joined the center’s board of advisers. Gaither is a published author and professor and associate dean at Elon University’s School of Communications. Vazin is CCO and group VP at Toyota Motor North America, a role he assumed in 2014 after leaving Volkswagen.
