NEW YORK: Ketchum has named Becca Cooper as MD of its financial and professional services offering.
She started in the role on January 11, based in New York and reporting to Ketchum partner Sara Garibaldi. Cooper replaced Tamara Norman, who is now MD of corporate reputation and employee engagement. Cooper is leading the financial and professional services consulting team in North America.
Cooper previously worked at Cognito, where she was deputy MD and head of digital.
The firm promoted Jade Bestley to replace Cooper and to lead its digital practice, said Rowan Benecke, U.S. president of the agency and Bestley’s manager.
“We were sorry to see her leave and wish her well in her next endeavors,” said Tom Coombes, Cognito founder and CEO.
This is Cooper’s second stint at Ketchum, having worked at the Omnicom Group firm from 2014 to 2018.
“In a lot of ways, it felt like coming home,” she said. “I know the senior leaders really well, and it’s an incredible agency when it comes to client service.”
Cooper added that she will mainly focus on growth.
“My goal is really to continue to grow the amazing talent and strong client base in the sector and make sure Ketchum is the consultancy of choice for financial and professional services,” she said, adding that the opportunity is almost like “forming a boutique agency within a global agency with immense resources.”
Cooper’s hire is the latest senior appointment at the Omnicom firm. Ex-Golin executive Neera Chaudhary is set to join Ketchum next month as North American president, reporting to global president and CEO Mike Doyle, who took over Ketchum’s top job last June.
The revenue generated by Omnicom’s PR firms dropped 3.4% in Q3 2020 to $322.8 million. Omnicom’s PR agencies include Ketchum, FleishmanHillard and Porter Novelli.
