BCW Malaysia absorbs Essence BCW

The move marks the completion of the WPP acquisition of essence BCW.

BCW Malaysia and Essence BCW will combine operations under the BCW Malaysia brand but both brands will be retained and maintain separate legal entities as well as secure safeguards where potential conflicts exist. This move will complete the WPP acquisition of essence BCW.

The merged entity will be led by managing director and current BCW Malaysia market leader Kiersten Chaik (pictured above), who will continue to report to Matt Stafford, APAC President, BCW. Staff from both offices will co-locate once Malaysia's restricted movement orders permits them to do so.

"The decision to integrate comes at a crucial time for companies in Malaysia as they work to identify the communications solutions needed to navigate their recovery, both economic and reputational, following COVID-19," said Stafford.

Essence Communications was founded in 2001 by Felix Heinimann, who oversee the WPP buyout and merger with BCW. Heinimann left Essence last year following a divestment to WPP, and has since set up Essential Business Malaysia which specialises in PR and public affairs with a focus on reputation management.
