OGUK communications manager Natalie Coupar has been promoted to comms director. She will oversee media relations, editorial, design and digital strategy.

The group's new external relations director is Jenny Stanning, who will lead OGUK’s external affairs, events and membership teams. Her responsibilities include working with governments, parliaments, industry leaders, business and industry organisations and regulatory bodies.

Prior to joining OGUK, Stanning worked in politics and stakeholder management for 15 years, including in the Scottish Parliament. She was formerly head of press at the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

The appointments, which take effect on 1 January, follow the departure of Gareth Wynn, who spent three years as stakeholder and communications director at OGUK. The former EDF comms director is leaving the organisation to take a leadership role overseas, OGUK said.

OGUK chief executive Deirdre Michie said: “By any measure, this year has been incredibly challenging for all communities, yet the people in our industry have continued to demonstrate incredible resilience, applying their essential expertise to help support a fragile supply chain and its move towards a sustainable green recovery. Both Natalie and Jenny have great vision, commitment and drive and their experience will enable us to maintain this momentum, and help ensure we’re doing all we can to support our members.”

“I’m also grateful to Gareth for his invaluable contribution to OGUK and to the industry and wish him every success for the future.”
