The 12th edition of the Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) Awards, hosted by chair Jonty Summers and executive board member Souad AlSerkal, was broadcast last night (9 December) to its largest-ever audience.
Large Agency of the Year was one of 37 gongs that went to Hill+Knowlton Strategies, as the consultancy enjoyed significant success at the event for the second consecutive year. Markettiers MENA was named Small Agency of the Year.
For the second year running, the Small In-House Team of the Year went to Standard Chartered Bank, while Large In-House Team of the Year was awarded to first-time entrant Majid Al Futtaim.
Scooping five Gold Awards, the most successful campaign was undoubtedly The World’s Tallest Donation Box, by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, together with MullenLowe MENA and markettiers MENA.
The 2020 Chairman’s award was awarded to recently retired Ogilvy MENA regional director, Saada Hammad, for her outstanding contribution to the industry.
A new category, Best COVID-19 Crisis Management, was awarded to Majid Al Futtaim, Edelman Middle East.
The number of debut winners at this year's event was also a feature, with W7Worldwide, The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives The UAE Government Media Office, Sticky Ginger, Roads and Transport Authority, Aster DM Healthcare, Tourism Authority of Thailand, EXPO 2020, Ikea – Al-Futtaim, Studio Master, Mazoon Dairy Company and DIFC all taking home gongs for the first time.
Summers, MEPRA chair and managing director at Hanover Middle East, said: "Every year the MEPRA Awards continues to show the dynamism, creativity, and discipline of the public relations industry in the region. This year‘s new category showcasing creativity in the face of the COVID-19 situation Is a perfect illustration of these qualities."
