Manifest says one of the reasons it has opened an Australian office is that it will allow it to run a 'round-the-clock' integrated creative service.
The team will be led by Manifest Melbourne co-founders Isabel Thomson-Officer (managing director) and Jessie Bowers (creative director).
“When we launched Manifest in 2009 we had an ambition to become the world’s first global small agency, combining the reach and reliability of a global network with the agility and innovation expected of a boutique operation,” Manifest founder and group chief executive Alex Myers said.
“Manifest Melbourne not only expands that reach to the southern hemisphere, but also gives our clients access to a 24-hour creative operation, with unified systems and processes to work seamlessly round the clock.”
Thomson-Officer, who is from Melbourne, moved from Manifest’s New York operation earlier this year. She has more than a decade of experience agency-side, representing brands including MoVida restaurant group, Gympass and HelloFresh. She has also worked as a journalist for News Corp’s online platform and Nine Digital.
Bowers, from New York, has a background in advertising and has held creative and art director roles at Fred Farid and Ogilvy.
He has produced work for NASA, Google, Instagram, HP and Converse, among others, and is a keen street artist and activist, having developed the global social change campaign No More Black Targets in 2017.
Manifest Melbourne will launch with clients including global babycare business Tommee Tippee, sextech innovator Hot Octopuss, sustainability subscription service Ecologi and an Australian craft beer brand. The office will also be part of the creative team for international Manifest projects across its client base.
Manifest said it chose to be based in Melbourne as the city is regarded as the cultural capital of Australia, but it also has a “media relations foothold” in Sydney.
“Australia has a legacy of creative bravery and cultural innovation, which is why it feels like a natural home for Manifest,” Thomson-Officer said.
“We’ll be headquartered in Melbourne, but it’s our intention to grow the team far and wide to source the best talent from all over the country. The nationwide recruitment process is already under way.”
