AbbVie hires Shannelle Armstrong Fowler as US public affairs director

She is focusing on AbbVie’s immunology therapeutic area in the U.S.

CHICAGO: Pharma company AbbVie has hired Shannelle Armstrong Fowler as director of U.S. public affairs.

She started at the company last month, reporting to Javier Boix, head of U.S. public affairs. Armstrong Fowler is overseeing a team responsible for protecting and growing the reputation of AbbVie’s immunology therapeutic area in the U.S., a company spokesperson said via email. 

Armstrong Fowler was not immediately available for comment.

Previously, she was an SVP at Red Havas U.S., where she worked since May 2014, collaborating with clients such as Teva Pharmaceuticals, Primark and JCPenney. Armstrong Fowler has also served as Sears’ PR director and manager of U.S. comms at McDonald’s.

In 2018, Armstrong Fowler’s shop, Haute & Co. Bridal Boutique, which she opened in 2013, became the setting of a TV series called “The Perfect Fit.” The six-episode series, which documented 12 curvy brides-to-be in search of the ultimate wedding gown, premiered on Time Inc.’s free streaming network, PeopleTV.

In Q3, AbbVie’s revenue of $12.9 billion beat analysts’ estimates, with its top-line improving 51.9% year-over-year on an as reported basis. On a comparable operational basis, revenue increased 4.1%.
