Powerscourt exec and PRWeek 30 Under 30 alumna takes Kosovo government comms role

Powerscourt senior consultant Donjeta Miftari – one of PRWeek UK's 30 Under 30 for 2019 – has taken a role advising Kosovo’s Acting President, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, on international media strategy.

Miftari (pictured) starts in the short-term post, based in the Kosovan capital Pristina, today (2 December). Her role is to work with the President’s office on engagement with international audiences. She will continue to work for Powerscourt during her stay in the country.

Miftari, 28, was born there and came to the UK with her family as a refugee shortly before the Kosovo war of 1998-99.

She joined Powerscourt in July 2019 from the Institute of Directors, where she was head of communications. Click here to read Miftari's profile from the PRWeek UK 30 Under 30 project for 2019.

Osmani-Sadriu took office on 5 November, having previously been the chairwoman of Kosovo's National Assembly.

Miftari said: “It is a great honour to work with the Acting President, Vjosa Osmani. These challenging times will require strong leadership, and I know that President Osmani will continue to advance the country, both domestically and on the international stage.

“My family and I moved to London during an extremely difficult time for our people. The UK not only provided us with refuge during a dark time for the country, but it also gave me and my family opportunities we otherwise would not have had. I am proudly British and proudly Kosovar.

“I am grateful for Powerscourt's support in giving me the opportunity to contribute to Kosovo’s development.”

Rory Godson, chief executive of Powerscourt, said: “We are very proud of Donjeta and support her in her wish to help Kosovo tell its story and to work to accelerate the development of Kosovo.”
