Candace Steele Flippin named chief communications officer of Acuity Brands

She is an alum of First Horizon National and St. Jude Medical.

ATLANTA: Acuity Brands has named Candace Steele Flippin as chief communications officer.

Steele Flippin, Acuity's first CCO, will be responsible for all aspects of Acuity Brands’ global comms strategy, including corporate communications, media relations, reputation and brand management.

Neil Ashe, president and CEO of Acuity Brands, said in a statement that Steele Flippin has passion for innovation and experience leading business transformation. Steele Flippin is reporting to Ashe. 

"As the Acuity Brands story unfolds, her leadership and strategic vision will influence how we tell our story to continue positioning us for success," Ashe said.

Industrial technology company Acuity Brands makes products and services such as building management systems, lighting, lighting controls and location-aware applications. It has operations in North America, Europe and Asia and 10,000 employees.

Steele Flippin is joining Acuity Brands from First Horizon National, where she was EVP and CCO. She spearheaded the communications strategy for First Horizon Bank's rebranding, established its corporate social responsibility program and managed comms for First Horizon's merger with Iberiabank.

Before First Horizon, Steele Flippin was VP of external communications at St. Jude Medical, where she oversaw corporate communications, brand strategy, government affairs, marketing communications and crisis communications.

She has also been named as an executive research fellow at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, where she serves as a multigenerational workplace scholar.
