LOS ANGELES: The Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has named Pinterest’s former comms lead, Christine Schirmer, to the newly created role of head of communications.

The office has also appointed Toya Holness as press secretary.

Schirmer will manage both Holness and James Holt, who is leading communications in the U.K., according to an announcement from the Duke and Duchess’ PR firm, Sunshine Sachs. Schirmer and Holness started in the positions last month.

Schirmer was replaced in the top communications role at Pinterest in July by LeMia Jenkins. The platform named Schirmer as its head of comms in 2017 after SVP of marketing and communications Barry Schnitt left the company.

Holness has served as director of corporate communications and marketing for Deluxe, a video creation and distribution company, and director of communications for New York City’s Department of Education.
