Downing Street director of communications Lee Cain has resigned hours after reports suggested he was to become Boris Johnson’s chief of staff.

Rebecca Blinston-Jones, UK managing director of MWWPR, is leaving the agency to "pursue new opportunities and fresh challenges".

Jason Green, the head of strategy, media and campaigns at the Health and Safety Executive, has been appointed interim deputy director of comms at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Sue Hutchinson has been promoted to partner at Hudson Sandler. She joined as an associate partner from Grayling in 2018 and has “helped to drive strong growth in the agency’s brand communications practice”. Hutchinson works with clients including John West, Thai Union and Village Hotel Club.

Integrated agency Social has promoted Diana MacCarthy and Ben Lowndes to managing directors of its Manchester and Bristol offices, respectively.  

Chris Webb, one of Britain’s top crisis comms experts, has been brought in as a strategic communications advisor at Surrey’s Local Resilience Forum.

Peel Group’s communications director, Paul Newman, has stepped down after 12 years leading comms at the private property, transport and infrastructure investment group. Newman was initially appointed communications director for MediaCityUK during its construction before overseeing external communications and reputation management for the group.  

Technology PR agency Tyto has appointed Florian Hohenauer as European senior partner and head of strategy. 

Munich-based aviation company Lilium has hired Meredith Bell, the former Starbucks comms director and Edelman veteran, to oversee global marcomms.
