INTERNATIONAL: Owens plans wide review of PR in new position at Aventis

BRIDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY: Pharmaceutical giant Aventis has promoted former V-P of global marketing for cardiovascular products David Owens to head of global product comms - the firm's most senior PR post in the US.

The position was formerly held by Doug Stokke, who left the company last December to head Manning Selvage & Lee's healthcare group.

Owens said there will be a review of comms to achieve an expanded focus on disease awareness and more collaboration with other business units.

'We are working toward a single-story strategy to avoid communicating conflicting messages from different departments and offices,' he said.

Owens' tenure at Aventis began six years ago, when he was hired as V-P in the cardiovascular division of predecessor company Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (RPR).
