NEW YORK: Pinterest has hired Walmart’s Meredith Klein as head of consumer and product communications.

Klein started in the position on Monday, reporting to global head of communications LeMia Jenkins, who herself left Walmart in August. Jenkins was director of global communications and media relations at the retailer.

At Pinterest, Klein will focus on consumer brand awareness and product launches, according to a statement from the company.

Klein’s last day at Walmart was Friday. A representative from the retail giant could not be reached for comment.

As director of PR at Walmart, Klein handled comms for the company’s acquired brands, including Bonobos, Eloquii and Moosejaw, as well as its product organization, managing comms for its first chief product officer. Klein has also worked at Makovsky and Golin.

Pinterest posted a Q3 revenue increase of 58% year-over-year to $443 million, as well as a net loss of $94.2 million, an improvement on a net loss of $124.7 million a year earlier.
