Lauren Myers-Cavanagh (pictured above), former director of special projects at Edelman, has joined Twitter as its new head of policy communications for APAC, based in Singapore. She will set the strategy for policy comms working in partnership with Twitter's public policy team, focusing on issues of transparency, the Open Internet and Twitter's work to protect the conversation around elections.
Myers-Cavanagh joins from Edelman, where she advised clients and internal stakeholders at the highest levels on corporate reputation, issues-based campaigns, advocacy and executive profiling. She also led Edelman's Trust Barometer in two regions and drove trust-building programmes on behalf of clients. In her new role, she will report to Ian Plunkett, Twitter's global director of policy communications, based in New York City. Prior to Edelman, she was group PR manager at Dyson.
She said: "There has never been a more critical need to communicate with stakeholders, the media and the public on the issues that define our licence to operate. As a values-driven company, Twitter is uniquely positioned to command the space it occupies and to drive these important conversations."
Plunkett said Myers-Cavanagh will bring a fresh and dynamic approach to the team as the company battles critical debates on its future within society and the internet.
In May this year, Twitter shifted its APAC PR duties from Golin to The Hoffman Agency.
