HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, appointed The Academy following a competitive pitch. It is the second major win for the agency in a week, after picking up an expanded consumer brief for Morrisons.
The account team is being led by The Academy’s creative director, Neil Broderick.
The agency's first piece of work with the brand was to shoot Lashana Lynch, who plays new 00 agent Nomi in the upcoming James Bond movie No Time To Die, on the Nokia 8.3 5G. The work generated 'thousands of pieces of coverage' around the world.
Delphine Varenne, global head of marketing and comms at HMD Global, said: “The Academy’s ability to underpin top-class creative with smart strategic thinking makes them the perfect choice to be our lead consumer PR agency.”
The Academy's co-founder and chief executive, Mitchell Kaye, added: “Nokia phones have a rich heritage and an exciting future, which we are really proud to be involved with.”
