FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA: Hyundai Motor America has appointed Kate Fabian as director of marketing communications.
She is set to start in the role on Monday. Fabian will report to Hyundai Motor America chief marketing officer Angela Zepeda.
Fabian said her 10-plus years of experience in the Hyundai family gives her insight into the brand's footprint in global markets.
"I know our brand and products well and having most recently led the overall marketing and advertising strategy for Genesis, I understand the important role this plays as a halo for Hyundai," she said. "I also know our people and agency partners well and that will hopefully allow for a seamless transition."
Fabian will oversee brand and multicultural marketing, media strategy, national and regional dealer advertising and experiential marketing, the automaker said in a statement. She will oversee a team of 15 staffers.
Fabian moves to Hyundai with more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning and execution of communications for brands such as Subaru, KFC, Coca-Cola, the Sydney Olympics, the Manchester Commonwealth Games and the Pan American Games.
Most recently, Fabian was senior group manager of marketing at Genesis Motor America, playing a role in the launch of the Hyundai Motor Group luxury brand. She led marketing and advertising strategy including Genesis' first Super Bowl ad this year and the Genesis Invitational PGA Tour event.
Previously, Fabian was brand communications manager for Hyundai Motor Company Australia as well as group business director at Innocean Worldwide, Hyundai's marketing agency in Australia.
She was also business director at Leo Burnett Sydney, leading Subaru business and held positions at advertising firms Ogilvy and Mather and George Patterson Y&R.
Fabian was not immediately available for comment.
Hyundai’s #HyundaiLife campaign won a PRWeek U.S. Award this year for Employee Engagement.
