Isabelle Scali, who joins from ViiV Healthcare, where she was global corporate comms director, and Maddy Farnworth, from Incisive Health, have both been hired as associate directors.

Meanwhile Adam Naylor, who joins from BCW, has been appointed to the new role of digital director.

Engine - MHP Health said all three hires underpin the agency’s ambition to broaden its health offer into media and digital campaigning, which reflects the demands of its clients.

Recent client wins include AstraZeneca, MundiPharma and the International Pharmaceutical Aerosol Consortium.

Career paths

Scali has nearly 20 years’ experience in healthcare comms, across agencies and in-house roles.

She began her career at MS&L and has worked in Weber Shandwick and Cohn & Wolfe’s healthcare teams.

After working for agencies, Scali worked for pharma firm Viiv Healthcare twice – first as internal comms manager and later as its global comms director – and at GSK, where she was in its global vaccines team.

Farnworth has worked in healthcare for five years, starting at independent health charity Nuffield Trust and then for Incisive Health, where she developed policy and comms strategies for global pharma clients and led its work on women’s health.

Naylor has 10 years’ experience in digital and comms and has worked with pharma clients including Bayer and Pfizer.

His most recent role was as digital innovation lead at BCW, having previously managed the agency’s central digital team.

Commenting on the appointments, Engine - MHP’s head of Health, Kate Pogson, said: “Our work relies upon an intricate and detailed knowledge of the healthcare policy and political landscape, combined with creative cut-through to get the attention of key decision-makers.”

She added: “Isabelle, Adam and Maddy’s skills and experience are the personification of that complementary skill set, and reflect our desire to build on our policy heritage into broader communications and campaigning areas.”
