DIARY: Mail on Sunday swaps sword for pen as Caplin is given weekly column

MacLaurin Media managing director Ian Monk and MacLaurin chief executive Brian MacLaurin have brokered one of the most unlikely deals of the year so far, Diary can reveal.

Carole Caplin - the 'fitness guru', and Monk client, at the heart of the 'Cheriegate' affair - is to pen a weekly lifestyle column for the Mail on Sunday.

The MoS and the Daily Mail were ferocious critics of Caplin during the scandal.

Commenting on the shock deal, Monk played up the PR implications: 'It seemed the right deal in terms of both protecting Carole's reputation and enhancing the renown of her business.'
