Annie Howell rejoins Crown Media Family Networks as CCO

LOS ANGELES: Annie Howell has rejoined Crown Media Family Networks after a five-year-plus hiatus as chief communications officer.

She had been consulting for the company since February. Howell is set to start as CCO on September 21, reporting to Crown Media president and CEO Wonya Lucas. From 2010 to 2014, Howell was EVP of corporate communications and media relations at Crown Media.

“Returning to Crown Media is an easy decision: a forward-thinking company with an incredible CEO in Wonya Lucas, world-class brand and a tremendous team of talented people," Howell said. 

She will take the lead on the full scope of the company's communications and social media, including corporate comms, media relations, publicity, talent management, social media, events and government relations.

Howell will counsel Crown executives, frequently traveling to the company's New York and Los Angeles offices, as well as parent company Hallmark Cards' Kansas City, Missouri, headquarters. She will serve as primary spokesperson for the company and PR liaison with Hallmark.

Previously, Howell founded the Punch Point Group, a communications and training company that supported a broad range of corporations, media companies, nonprofits, universities and individual clients. She is now a non-operative partner of the business.

Before launching Punch Point, Howell was interim head of communications at AMC Networks’ SundanceTV, where she was part of the executive leadership team and led the communications and publicity group during a management transition and restructure.

Prior to joining Crown Media in 2010, Howell served 11 years as SVP of communications and public affairs at Discovery Inc., where she helped to launch eco-friendly initiatives such as Planet Green and
