WASHINGTON: Purple Strategies has hired Jennifer Kohl as senior director.
She started in the newly created role in August, working with the Purple team to lead campaigns by developing insights-based plans and identifying and managing resources needed to execute strategy.
"I have a diverse background doing many different things, and I'm really looking forward to being able to tie all that together to help Purple's clients,” she said.
Kohl most recently spent 18 months leading the PR team for celebrity chef José Andrés and his restaurant network, ThinkFoodGroup. She oversaw all PR and social media for Andrés and his three dozen restaurants and 20 brands, including Mercado Little Spain, The New York Times’ 2019 No. 1 Best New Restaurant.
Previously, Kohl spent five years as VP and senior strategist at FleishmanHillard speciality public affairs shop GMMB and was communications director for President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign in Virginia.
Kohl has also worked as strategic communications adviser to former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Margaret Hamburg and on Capitol Hill for Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and the House Armed Services Committee. She is also a veteran of statewide and local political campaigns.
Purple has added other senior hires to its team in recent months, including Hill+Knowlton Strategies alum Rebecca Ballard as MD for communications, marketing and engagement; Jordan Davis as senior director; and Stacey Jaffe as senior director and insights lead.
