Binna Kim has not exactly slowed down since cofounding financial communications and fintech firm Vested five years ago.
The financial communications hot shop has acquired agencies including content-development firm Scribe, Canadian shop Goldman Communications and business journalism website Talking Biz News. It has also developed a proprietary technology platform known as Qwoted and the investment fund Vested Ventures. Oh, and it’s expanded to Europe, as well.
Kim, an alumna of both Merrill Lynch’s communications team and integrated financial services firm Cognito, oversees Vested’s services practice, which currently accounts for the majority of the agency’s revenue.
Kim combined her communications expertise with her entrepreneurial spirit when she founded Vested in 2015 with former Cognito colleagues Daniel Simon and Ishviene Arora.
She is hailed by Vested colleagues for her fearless nature as a role model for other women in the industry and confidante for younger staff. She’s also received praise for creating an office environment in which the agency’s younger teammates feel comfortable and are encouraged to talk to senior executives for guidance. Colleagues describe Kim as the first to ask a stressed-out employee what she can take off their plate.
An active member of Chief, the networking organization for women executives, Kim also values recruiting strong, intelligent women to the agency, where two-thirds of the cofounders are women. She also values developing a diverse workplace at the firm.
