At HPE, Adam Bauer leads issues management and policy communications, where he is responsible for all issues management and crisis communications, as well as leading external programs to communicate HPE’s corporate citizenship and employee experience narratives.
Bauer had been at HPE for less than a year when the pandemic struck. He quickly became an active, strategic and well-respected member of the tech giant’s COVID-19 Crisis Management Team, leading communications as the company closed sites, shifted a workforce of 60,000 globally to work from home and responded to the needs of customers, partners and communities.
At HPE, Bauer has established strategic rigor around issues management, leading a heavy volume of thoughtful responses to issues ranging from cybersecurity to supply chain to arbitration.
Just two months after his arrival, HPE moved to its new San Jose headquarters and launched a set of progressive benefits. Bauer partnered with teams across the company to lead external communications, which resulted in strong coverage including a Quartz story titled “With its new parental leave policy, HPE puts Silicon Valley on notice.”
Earlier in his career, Bauer led crisis planning and management for the corporate communications function at Wells Fargo. For almost four years, through the height of the bank’s reputation challenges, he led communications to media, customers and internal audiences around a wide range of issues.
