The independent agency, which has 50 staff at offices in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, serves local and multinationals in industries including technology, real estate, tourism, cannabis and financial services.
It was set up in Cape Town 10 years ago and specialises in communication strategy and “intelligent, narrative-driven content”.
The London office will be spearheaded by Irvine Partners chief executive Rachel Irvine, who will relocate to the UK.
"We’ve been working in the UK market for about 18 months on an informal basis and client demand has now reached a level where it made sense to open a fully staffed office here, even with the uncertainties around COVID-19,” she said.
Irvine said the agency will not only represent African clients looking for UK comms support, but also UK clients and brands looking for a communications partner to help them connect to consumers across Africa.
“We’ve seen a particular surge in demand from venture-capital-backed tech companies, real estate and of course tourism, which the continent is so well-known for,” she added.
