2019 was a great year for AMVBBDO. It was the most awarded year in its 42-year history, taking home, among other things, eight Grand Prix and 78 Golds at the Cannes Lions - where it was the most awarded UK agency. The agency also added seven new clients.
Its ability to produce effective brand films was a key driver of its success.
Highlights included releasing a series of films at the Davos World Economic Forum that exposed the blind spot in corporate diversity with The Valuable 500 movement. Three thousand of the most influential people in the world were targeted with its films; they were then re-targeted with inspiring messages from disability activists. Within ten days, 51 companies pledged a commitment to The Valuable 500.
Its Guinness campaign ‘The Purse’ told the true story of two brothers honoring their late mother’s dying wish to spend every last penny of the inheritance following the Wales rugby team. The Guinness Six Nations overall campaign yielded a 10 per cent sales uplift.
The agency also partnered with Mariah Carey in time with the re-launch of her Christmas hit, All I want for Christmas is You. The campaign was rated the Christmas "ad that generated the most brand love" in the year’s Kantar Study.
