Students from Goldsmiths' creative courses can join Third City’s creative team to form a 'Creative Collective', to work on the agency’s live PR and social-media briefs.
'Brainstorms' will take place digitally, and face to face via work placements planned for later this year and in 2021.
Third City said participating students, who will be drawn from a range of fields from communications to fine art, will be paid above the London Living Wage. Additional bonuses will be available if their ideas are taken forward. Flexible, paid internships, to see their concepts come to fruition, will also be offered.
The 30-strong agency, whose co-founder, Mark Lowe, is a Goldsmiths alumnus, said it will support the university with student and business support schemes via workshops and webinars. These will focus on the value of PR, including the art of devising campaigns and the tactics available, and how to get involved in the industry.
The schemes include:
- Local business support – aiding businesses in the Lewisham area and Goldsmiths students/graduates eager to start their own creative business or enterprise
- GoldReach – providing enhanced careers support for UK undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds
- The Dek Business Growth Programme – aiming to deliver support to SMEs who want to achieve growth. It’s open to London-based individuals and businesses with up to 250 employees.
Third City creative director Henry Warrington said: “Goldsmiths is recognised as a creative powerhouse with a multi-disciplinary approach to creativity that mirrors our philosophy as an agency. To be able to team up with them is a huge privilege; we can’t wait to get started, and hopefully inspire Goldsmiths' creatives as much as they are bound to inspire us.”
Goldsmiths University employer engagement manager Fergus Gleeson said: “Our work on employability and entrepreneurship is about bridging the gap between creativity and business, helping students, graduates and local businesses move forward with their plans. This is something Third City does every day: applying high-level creativity to real business challenges to great success and we’re looking forward to starting our collaboration.”
