Wendy Watherston will join Teamspirit’s 30-strong public relations team as a director and brings more than 15 years of financial services communications experience serving in-house and agency roles.

Watherston previously spent eight years at professional services firm Grant Thornton, the majority of that time as its head of PR. She has also worked at Ogilvy, Tulchan and Redleaf Communications earlier in her career.

At Teamspirit, she will be responsible for the agency’s corporate PR proposition and new business development.

“Starting a new job, with new colleagues, and new clients, while in lockdown has been a novel experience to say the least,” Watherston said.

“But it has been exciting to get involved with and see the breadth, creativity and quality of work the teams produce, especially during these new ways of working. While it’s been great to meet and get to know my colleagues and clients virtually, I am most definitely looking forward to getting back to the office and meeting everyone properly in person.”

Watherston’s hiring follows Teamspirit’s appointment as UK communications partner to financial services company Lombard International Group.

Teamspirit has also appointed account executive Olivia Lucas and senior art director Michela Comisso, who brings more than 10 years of experience in the creative industry, having worked at Guardian News & Media, Discovery Channel and Stylerouge.

“We’re so pleased to have welcomed new members to the Teamspirit family over the last three months,” the agency's chief executive, Kirsty Maxey, said.

“Wendy, Michela and Olivia all bring expertise and talent which will only enhance our proposition and the support we can provide to both existing and new clients across the financial services industry.”
