Abercrombie & Fitch comms head Ian Bailey moves to Qurate Retail

He joins as SVP of comms and community on May 4.

WEST CHESTER, PA: Qurate Retail has hired Abercrombie & Fitch comms head Ian Bailey as SVP of communications and community.

Bailey is set to start in the newly created role on May 4, reporting to Mike George, president and CEO. Bailey will be based at the company’s global headquarters in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Bailey will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that “engage team members around the world, raise awareness of the company’s value proposition, demonstrate the power of its portfolio of leading retail brands and highlight its innovative leadership across the retail, media and social landscape,” according to a statement from Qurate. 

He also will focus on accelerating the company’s corporate responsibility and community support initiatives. He will lead the company’s corporate communications, financial comms, internal communications, corporate responsibility and consumer public relations teams.

Qurate Retail owns the brands Zulily, QVC, HSN and Cornerstone.

Bailey joins Qurate Retail from Abercrombie & Fitch Co., where he was VP and head of communications and PR, with responsibility for leading internal communications, media relations, crisis communications and brand public relations for the company and its Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie kids, Hollister and Gilly Hicks brands. 

Before joining Abercrombie in 2017, Bailey was interim head of communications and marketing at venture capital firm Village Capital. He has also worked as EVP and New York GM at Hill+Knowlton Strategies; EVP and MD at Weber Shandwick; MD at Financial Dynamics, which is now FTI Consulting; and ran his own business and comms consultancy Capital C Partners.
