INTERNATIONAL: PATA in search for comms chief as Hastings departs

BANGKOK: The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) - the body which represents tourist boards across Asia - has launched a search to find a communications chief for its Europe and Americas division following the announcement Bill Hastings is to leave.

PATA spokesman Ken Scott said external tourism marcoms agency Picolla International will manage the Americas division on an interim basis until Hastings' successor is found.

The role of managing director (covering Europe and the Americas) is largely a communications and marketing post.

Hastings has worked at PATA for the past eight years, holding a number of roles, including director of communications and also director in the organisation's Americas division.

He was instrumental in helping the PATA revamp its communications efforts and led the body's move into consumer marketing with a US advertising and PR campaign.
