DIARY: QBO founder Bell turns hand to fiction writing

There are a lot of stories about PR that will never be written, and perhaps some that should never be. And then there is fiction. Quentin Bell, the former doyen of London PR who set up QBO before selling up in 1995, has turned his attention to the last of these.

The Ferrari-loving bon-viveur is a self-proclaimed tax exile living in Monaco, and, Diary can reveal, has nearly finished his first novel.

'It's about a rich PR man who goes to Monaco and gives up money for freedom.

He finds it's not worth it. Not that I'm going to give up my money,' he says.

The mainly autobiographical tome should be in all good bookshops in the new year.
