DIARY: Ex-sub Mahoney's having a 'Sunny' time in PR

Staff at Scottish tabloid the Daily Record will be intrigued to hear how former freelance sub Adrian Mahoney has been spending his spare time.

Mahoney - who now runs PR and publishing firm The PR Store - handles publicity for the IPR's Scotland wing.

In this role, he has been using his QuarkXPress skills to mock-up a spoof front page of Record rival the Scottish Sun, as part of a promotional push for the group's Christmas event next week.

At the event, Matt Bendoris and John Kirkby, from The Sun's features department, will give a talk, hence the Sun theme.

Judging by the results, the former Falkirk Herald chief reporter's Quark skills may be tip-top, but his slightly naff headline leaves Diary wondering whether his subbing skills are quite what they were in his Daily Record days.
