INTERNATIONAL: Bali looks at PR to build confidence in tourist industry

DENPASAR: The Bali Tourism Initiative is turning to PR to gain momentum for the 'Light of Hope Recovery Campaign', in a bid to put Bali back on track and restore confidence in its shattered tourism industry, following the devastating 12 October bombing.

The island's promoters have set up a temporary web-site(, which will provide daily updated news on the progress that has been made since the bombing, in order to keep global stakeholders informed.

Bali Tourism Initiative co-ordinator Jeffrey Wibisono is heading the online PR efforts.

A second leg of the campaign to bolster 'Light of Hope' efforts will kick off at the start of December, and aims to enlist tourism industry personnel to hand out 5,000 posters and 20,000 stickers across the island.

The tourism body said it has yet to secure a sponsor for this initiative.
