Martin Spurrier has been lured away from Weber Shandwick, to become Edelman executive vice-president for Asia-Pacific and chairman of Hong Kong operations.
Bank of East Asia chairman and CEO David Li has been named Edelman chairman for Asia-Pacific.
Meanwhile,Weber Shandwick has also lost corporate group director Eric Wong to Edelman's Hong Kong offices.
Wong joins the firm in a similar role, heading the corporate practice.
'These appointments cap eight months of restructuring of our operations in this region,' said Edelman president Alan VanderMolen.
'During this period, we have opened an office in Melbourne, and brought in a number of senior, Asia-Pacific experienced consultants to strengthen our client offer,' he added.
During Spurrier's time at WS, he served as Asia-Pacific chairman.
His clients have included AsiaSat, British Airways, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Dresdner RCM Global Investors, Fortis, Grant Thornton and Newsweek.
Li's experience in public affairs and PR includes representing the finance constituency in the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
