MEDIA: AOL UK managing editor leaves for US mag company

Lorie Parch, managing editor of internet service provider AOL UK, has quit to take up a senior position with an unnamed US magazine company.

No replacement has been announced for Parch, who worked with AOL's editorial teams to develop new content and redesign its news, business and entertainment channels.

Sheila Sang, who joined as AOL UK head of editorial and programming in May, said several appointments would be forthcoming in channels such as motoring and careers and work. While most are replacements, Sang said: 'It is partly business as usual but we are keen to expand.'

The recent loss of Jane Weedon, head of business strategy, to the BBC, has resulted in a restructure at AOL UK.

She will not be directly replaced, but a new position, head of content business development, has been created to exploit AOL's editorial strategy.

Sang said: 'It will be looking to see how to get the best out of our content initiatives, talking to partners, to support our editorial ambitions.'
