Jill Eisberg, currently head of comms, has been named as the successor to CEO David Balfour, becoming the council's first female head in its 82-year history.
Eisberg, who joined two years ago, takes up the post as CEO designate this month and will work alongside Balfour, until he stands down at the end of March next year.
The council, whose chairman is Philip Wilkinson, is a not-for -profit company set up by farmers and dairy com-panies to promote the health benefits of milk.
Campaigns have included the current 3-A-Day initiative, to highlight the importance of calcium and to encourage eating three portions of dairy products a day.
During her time as head of comms Eisberg has also overseen the council's ongoing schools campaign.
