DIARY: CSR suffers as Footsie Sindex names culprits

CSR experts will be miffed to hear of the latest update from investment magazine Money Observer on its Footsie Sindex - a listing dedicated to the 'nasty' stocks in the FTSE100 - those which failed to meet the criteria of FTSE4Good.

The 22 companies relegated to the Sindex did so either by way of a failure to report on their environmental impact or for engagement in damaging or anti-social practices - selling tobacco, making weapons, and the like.

They outperformed their saintly counterparts in the FTSE4Good by a whopping 17 per cent.

'We are a nation of smokers and drinkers' is the sorry conclusion of Money Observer editor Andrew Pitts.
