DIARY: Booth takes phrase challenge to another level

A diverting if childish game has taken hold of the staff at Lewis PR - to sneak increasingly ridiculous phrases into any media appearances that come their way.

The most outlandish example to date came last week when head of comms Clive Booth was bet £100 by colleagues that he couldn't squeeze the words 'rhinoceros jamboree' into a discussion of the BBC license fee on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff.

'We train clients to get key messages into the media and I thought the best way to show them how was to lead by example,' he says.

Booth was vocal in his license fee defence, arguing the Beeb needed funds for good programmes, rather than being reduced to producing boring trash such as 'Rhinoceros Jamboree'.

For the ridicule he incurred in the studio, Booth was well worth his hundred quid.
