Banos, reporting to Yahoo! Iberia MD Javier Etxebeste, will be responsible for developing and improving the group's image with the media and key Spanish institutions.
Prior to joining Yahoo!, which runs Spanish internet portals Yahoo! Espana and Yahoo! en Catala, Banos worked as marketing and PR chief for UK software firm Comm Tech Europe. Before that she was a business development and marketing executive for specialist telecoms agency TAD.
She joins Yahoo! at a time of improving fortunes for the group. Yahoo! recently reported net third-quarter income of £18.7m up from a net loss of £15.6m for the same period last year.
