MEDIA: FT launches new service online to report on the EU

The Financial Times has boosted its coverage of the European Union with the launch of an online 'Brussels Briefing' service.

The service, in the form of an early morning daily bulletin to subscribers, will include work by the paper's Brussels-based team as well as articles from columnists including Philip Stephens and FT veteran Quentin Peel.

It will also include regular Inside Brussels columns and as-yet-unnamed guest contributors.

A key target audience for the service is the UK public affairs sector.

According to a statement the service aims to 'set out the day's big events across the EU giving an insider's view on what to expect.'

The service is co-ordinated by FT European editor Brian Groom.

Meanwhile, the FT this week hired James Mackintosh as its motor industry correspondent.
