INTERNATIONAL: Hudig moves into new Brussels role for Bell Pottinger

BRUSSELS: Bell Pottinger has created its first on the ground public affairs presence in Brussels with the hire of Dirk Hudig as director for Europe.

Hudig - former secretary general of Unice, the EU employers' confederation - joins the Chime Communications-owned group to focus on European Union and European Commission matters.

Hudig previously acted as non-executive chairman of PA network FIPRA EU in Brussels, president of the British Chamber of Commerce and held senior positions at ICI, including group manager of EU Government Relations and national manager for ICI Belgium.

Graham Barr, chairman of Bell Pottinger's Sans Frontieres European unit, said staff will be recruited to support Hudig in Brussels as the office develops.
