Chapple is to have a 25 per cent stake in Lighthouse's new EMEA analyst relations unit which he joins next month as a director. A former IT analyst himself before heading the analyst relations practice at Brodeur for the last two years, he has strong views as to the offer PR agencies generally make in this area.
He said: 'PR agencies are great at dealing with journalists but analysts want something different. Instead of information being boiled down, analysts despise attempts to filter the information they receive. They want the basic data.'
Chapple will initially work with the agency's PR clients that want analyst relations, but said he soon expected to be able to bring new, exclusively analyst relations, clients to the business.
Lighthouse MD Sean Gough said the appointment and the equity model involved was the first of a series that the agency planned as a way of expanding into new areas. He added he would be looking at practice areas such as investor relations and healthcare as well as geographic expansion into centres like Paris and Frankfurt.
