DIARY: Fuller overlooks e-mail abuse as rat is trapped

Details emerged this week of the chain of events that saw the reputation of alleged email love-rat Trevor Luxton shredded by the tabloids.

Luxton's apparently ungallant description of the way he cheated on his travelling girfriend - 'I find myself sitting in the arm chair with a beer in one hand, remote in the other, West Ham on the box and Laura on her knees...' - sent his employer Credit Lyonnais into crisis mode and gave computer users across the world a brief chuckle.

Luxton sent his e-mail at 9.20am last Thursday. Within an hour his confidence had been breached to the extent that PA Hannah Goring of the Red Consultancy - as far as we can tell the third link in the chain - received the tacky smut and forwarded it to 'All RED Secretaries'.

MD David Fuller says: 'Hannah rose to the challenge of catching the rat by passing it to some formidable allies - her fellow secretaries.'

Given the good cause, Fuller says he is prepared to overlook the abuse of company e-mail policy. How kind.
