Pfizer hands half of exhibition stand to health charities

Drugs giant Pfizer has broken fresh ground in its conference lobbying strategy by giving over half of its exhibition stand to health charities.

In what even rival pharmaceutical company representatives accepted was a first for conference public affairs activity, the company has gave over half its stand to the British Lung Foundation, Heart UK and Counsel & Care for the Elderly.

Pfizer corporate affairs officer Joel Morris said the venture, which stands out in an otherwise slimmed down conference exhibition, was aimed at moving the company's public affairs and lobbying work onto a new footing.

'A key part of our policy is to develop partnerships with external organisations - and patient groups don't tend to have the resources to secure such a high-profile platform,' Morris added.
