North 6th Agency hires Zignal CMO Jordan Cohen

He started at the agency on Wednesday in its newly created CMO position.

NEW YORK: North 6th Agency has hired Zignal Labs acting CMO Jordan Cohen as its first chief marketing officer.

Cohen is starting in the newly created role on Wednesday, reporting to North 6th CEO Matt Rizzetta. His last day at Zignal was August 21. Cohen is building out his team with plans to hire three direct reports: two digital marketers and one designer.

He will collaborate with N6A publicist Layton Lassiter and the agency’s professional services group. Cohen will be responsible for driving agency growth and positioning in the marketplace, and he will act as an on-demand CMO for clients, advising them on comms and marketing issues.

Cohen said that he retained a love for earned media as his career switched back and forth between marketing and communications, noting that "PR has always been nearest and dearest to my heart, and I’ve witnessed the evolution of it."

"I see a tremendous opportunity to drive growth for the agency and scale North 6th from 50 people to 500 and from two offices to 20, for it to be the next large global independent agency," he said.

Cohen added that he is leaving Zignal on good terms and was responsible for it hiring North 6th as its agency of record.

"We are very appreciative of the great work Jordan did for us and are excited for his next venture at [North 6]," a Zignal spokesperson said, via email. "Stay tuned for announcements around our marketing leadership."

Before joining Zignal, Cohen was chief marketing officer at marketing firm Fluent.

In 2018, N6A revenue grew by 17% to just more than $7 million, according to PRWeek’s Agency Business Report.
