Sarah Huckabee Sanders is planning to step down as White House press secretary at the end of this month, President Donald Trump tweeted on Thursday.
Trump tweeted that Sanders is "going home to the great state of Arkansas," adding, "I hope she decides to run for governor of Arkansas -- she would be fantastic!"
....She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!

The White House did not immediately name a replacement.
Sanders was elevated to White House press secretary in July 2017 after Sean Spicer stepped down from the role. She was previously deputy White House press secretary.
