PRWeek UK 30 Under 30 2019: Sofie Skouras, Aspectus

PRWeek UK's 30 Under 30 list for 2019 features Sofie Skouras, deputy head of technology at Aspectus (24).

Moving from intern to deputy practice head in five years, and still not 25 years old, points to Skouras’ abilities. Lauded as an "amazing all-rounder" with "huge natural talent", she is a new business generator - landing around £200,000 worth in 2018 – and an outstanding client and people manager.

The secret to being a good comms pro in 2019 is... Being proactive and curious. People joining our team who take the initiative, don't wait to be told what to do and back themselves is always impressive. Also curiosity; not just about the sector you work in, but about society generally, means you're constantly learning about new stuff every day.

If I could change anything about the PR industry, it would be... Its diversity and social mobility problem.

I'm inspired by... Ideas I wish I'd come up with, the friendly man who hands out City AM at Old Street station making my mornings, writers like Kazuo Ishiguro, my family and close ones, brilliant bosses I've learnt so much from, and people like Niki Lauda or Cindy Gallop.

If I wasn't in PR, I'd be... A documentary film maker, a therapist or a nurse.

Judge’s comment: "Sofie has clear commercial acumen, leadership skills and great initiative, which has led to an impressive, rapid rise within Aspectus"
