PRWeek UK's 30 Under 30 list for 2019 features Emma Reynolds, digital health innovation lead at Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW) (28).

Reynolds is a PR who delivers, picking up 14 industry awards since 2017 and encouraging strong organic growth in her sector; she has brought projects into BCW healthcare’s practice worth more than £100,000 in fees. She’s also an innovator – examples include spearheading the launch of the first global patient support chatbot developed by a pharmaceutical firm.

The secret to being a good comms pro in 2019 is... Being solutions-focused, logical and nimble. You are a trusted adviser and people (clients and colleagues) come to you specifically for a reason, so it is okay to be brave and suggest something different to the norm. You just have to be sure it is for the better!

If I could change anything about the PR industry, it would be... To stop thinking about it in a traditional sense. Earned media is only included in plans if it helps to reach our objective. PR for me, is how best to communicate to our audiences and activate them to do something. Media coverage may not be the means to do that.

I'm inspired by... My uncle. His to-the-point, authentic business style is definitely the reason why I've managed to further myself in my career. He listens and takes on board advice, but ultimately goes with his gut. It genuinely comes down to hard work, and he is responsible for instilling that into me.

Judge’s comment: "Emma has been a clear asset to her agency and clients"
